awesome.

We're awesome.

We should meet.

And while maternal mortality in NYC is on the decline, it has increased in the Bronx - a borough in NYC that has consistently experienced the worst health outcomes in New York State.

Let’s talk about why and let’s do something about it.

Right after Black Maternal Health Week, The Bronx Birth Justice Gathering is going down. This day-long event features workshops and community conversations about reproductive health, rights, and justice in NYC and the Bronx specifically. Come through to make meaningful connections, share your stories and experiences about healthcare in the Bronx, and strategize about next steps to address this maternal health crisis.

Lunch, childcare, metrocards and interpretation will be provided.

Workshops, presentations and activities are being finalized. The final program will be released by April 1st. Scroll down for the overall program for the day.

This event is produced by Taja Lindley, a Public Artist in Residence with the NYC Health Department working on a community art project about maternal health in the Bronx; and it's planned in collaboration with:

Nicole Jean Baptiste: full-spectrum doula, mother of two, lifelong Bronx resident, and activist

Melissa Toala: babymama, Bronx born and bred, youth worker, reproductive justice advocate and organizer

Carmen Mojica: birth and reproductive justice activist, birthworker, Bronx native, AfroDominicana

If you’re interested in tabling at The Gathering, please fill out this form by March 31st, 2020.
